Over the past twenty years or so, glow discharge mass spectrometry (GDMS) has become the industry standard for the analysis of trace elements in metals and semiconductors. A review of its history is followed by a picture of the present situation and a look to where the future may lie. Applications are summarised, including the ability of GDMS to offer depth-resolved data and non-conductor analysis, and the well-documented quantitative nature of the results is reviewed. The effects resulting from the physical properties of the analyte material are discussed at length. Finally, recent work such as fast flow sources and pulsed glow discharges is reviewed.  相似文献

We introduce a new Monte Carlo algorithm for the self-avoiding walk (SAW), and show that it is particularly efficient in the critical region (long chains). We also introduce new and more efficient statistical techniques. We employ these methods to extract numerical estimates for the critical parameters of the SAW on the square lattice. We find=2.63820 ± 0.00004 ± 0.00030=1.352 ± 0.006 ± 0.025v=0.7590 ± 0.0062 ± 0.0042 where the first error bar represents systematic error due to corrections to scaling (subjective 95% confidence limits) and the second bar represents statistical error (classical 95% confidence limits). These results are based on SAWs of average length 166, using 340 hours CPU time on a CDC Cyber 170–730. We compare our results to previous work and indicate some directions for future research.  相似文献

A group additivity method is described which provides heat capacity estimates of the condensed phase. The data base consists of 810 liquids and 446 solids. Group values for carbon in various common substitution and hybridization states and for 47 functional groups are provided. The standard error of estimation using this approach on this data base is 19.5 (liquids) and 26.9 J/ (mole K) (solids). This can be compared to typical experimental uncertainties of 8.12 and 23,4 J/ (mole K) associated with these measurements, respectively. Experimental uncertainties were estimated from the numerical differences obtained for a given substance from multiple independent literature reports.  相似文献

A new method suitable for depth profiling of shallow layers on different materials is presented. It is based on a soft and planar ion sputtering combined with differential weighing, total-reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) spectrometry and Tolansky interferometry. By means of a stepwise repetition of these techniques it is possible to determine both density/depth and concentration/depth profiles. The respective quantities are expressed in terms inherent only to the sample and traceable to the SI-units or subunits gram, nanometer and mole. It is a unique feature of this method that density/depth profiles can directly be obtained from measurements without any calibration or theoretical approximation. The method is applied to a Si wafer implanted with Co ions of 25 keV energy and a nominal dose of 1×1016 cm−2. The depth resolution is shown to be <3 nm while a total depth of some 100 nm can be reached. The concentration/depth profile is compared with RBS measurements, wet-chemical etching plus TXRF and Monte Carlo simulations. In view of the fact that only similar but not exactly the same samples have been examined by these methods, a good correspondence can be noticed.  相似文献

DISMOL simulator was used to determine the best possible operating conditions to guide, in future studies, experimental works. This simulator needs several physical-chemical properties and often it is very difficult to determine them because of the complexity of the involved components. Their determinations must be made through correlations and/or predictions, in order to characterize the system and calculate it. The first try is to have simulation results of a system that later can be validated with experimental data. To implement, in the simulator, the necessary parameters of complex systems is a difficult task. In this work, we aimed to determe these properties in order to evaluate the tocopherol (vitamin E) recovery using a DISMOL simulator. The raw material used was the crude deodorizer distillate of soya oil. With this procedure, it is possible to determine the best operating conditions for experimental works and to evaluated the process in the separation of new systems, analyzing the profiles obtained from these simulations for the falling film molecular distillator.  相似文献

It is shown in this paper that these rates of convergence remain valid without any differentiability assumptions on f at x. Instead some simple regularity conditions are imposed on the density f at the point of interest. A fundamental principle of queueing theory isL=W (Little's law), which states that the time-average or expected time-stationary number of customers in a system is equal to the product of the arrival rate and the customer-average or expected customer-stationary time each customer spends in the system. This principle is now well known and frequently applied. However, in recent years there have been extensions, such as H=G and the continuous, distributional, ordinal and central-limit-theorem versions, which show that theL=W relation, when viewed properly, has much more power than was previously realized. Moreover, connections have been established between H=G and other fundamental relations, such as the rate conservation law and PASTA (Poisson arrivals see time averages), which show that there is a much greater unity in the overall theory than was previously realized. This paper provides a review.This paper is dedicated to the memory of our colleague Professor Peter Franken (1937–1989), who contributed greatly to the subject of this paper and to queueing theory more generally.  相似文献
